I would like to dedicate my section to my parents.  Looking back, I realized that when I was younger that photography was the last thing in the world I thought I’d get hooked on.  Now it is my passion.

My parents were professional photographers.  I remember Mom retouching negatives with what looked like a lead pencil.   She also would take B&W photos and make them color photos using paints.  I lost track of how much time I spent at Dad’s business on the weekends and summer being arms deep in chemicals in the dark trying to save color film that jammed. Oh, and there was the reproduction jobs that Dad did for AMC (Jeep).  Many a night was spent printing 20,000 B&W photos of each new model.  Try watching 20,000 8x10 photos of the same thing to make sure they were processed and cut correctly

This got real boring, but it was a job and I had a money pit for a car.  The best part was helping on photo shoots.  One memorable event was Dad photographing the original Harlem Globetrotters.  I got to meet them and then had front row (walking the sidelines) views of the game while Dad took photos.  It never clicked back then as to what aperture, f-stop and all of that meant.  I just thought they were pointing and shooting.

We’ve been taking digital photos since 2006.  I can now understand the passion as well as the frustration of getting your vision caught on the camera.  While I have never taken any classes, I’ve read a few books on photography.  Photography has to be in my genes and I guess my hard head did retain something when I was young.

Thanks Mom and Dad

What did my Mom do when she was younger?  What all females wanted to do in 1957, hang out with Elvis.  Yes that is my Mom
